Loco No. 10 - Russell

Russell is a bit of an ugly duckling sort of loco, but very willing! It will pull almost anything on the line and is certainly happy with a fully loaded slate train.

This is probably the last loco that Meifford will buy - ten locos for the volume of traffic on the line is probably excessive. It does however provide an opportunity to put some of the fleet into the workshops for some essential maintenance and some alterations.

Reality

Another Smallbrook body kit that had been waiting for me to do something with. I was given a spare Hornby chassis so thought I ought to put them together. 

A few modifications to the body, including the rather large rivets on the smokebox and cab body, plus a new brass chimney and brass cab roof have made rather a nice little model.

As with the others of similar build, the Hornby chassis coupled with a reasonably weighty body do make for a smooth running loco. Kadee couplings are fitted and Russell is now regularly running with mixed freight on the line.
